I fell in love with the Magnolia Pearl, a clothing store in Fredericksurg, Texas. The store is an old barn that you would have thought had been there forever, but it was built using old barn wood. It is quite a sight!! I wanted 80 to recreate the Magnolia Pearl on a much smaller scale in our backyard. Our house has a small floorplan, so the mini pearl would be overflow for guest. We ended up buying an airstream and decided to build a barn according to the specs of our new overflow guest haus and we wanted a camper for all our future trips we plan to take..... Step 1: after we measured and thought out our plan, we rented an auger from Home Depot. We needed 8 holes that were 2 feet deep. Step 2: we placed the poles in the holes and concreted them in. 80 did most of the work, while I made sure he had a drink at all times and verbal support. More to come....like I have said, we rarely complete one project before moving on to our next.

This is an unused corner in our yard that we decided to use as a garden area. We have never grown anything except a few flowering plants in containers. First, 80...(my husband's nickname, since he feels he does 80% of the work) used the weed eater to cut down the grass.  Then, we raked the pilings out of the way and sprayed weed killer on the area. Next, 20....(me) put down weed barrier.  The final step to prepare this area was to unload the crushed granite. 80 and Lulu did this. 1 I (20%) raked the crushed granite until it appeared smooth.  We purchased water troughs from Tractor Supply. They are a little pricey, but it is a one time expense.  We did a lot of research on how to create a raised garden bed. There are many different ways as we discovered. We decided to drill holes in the bottom of the troughs, fill with random plastic containers. We drank a lot of water!!! We then purchased a load of live mulch from our local  gravel...
